ST. ALBANS KITCHEN
Removing a load-bearing wall and original chimney opened up this once cramped space and flooded it with natural light.
Ample storage was high on the homeowners wish list. This was achieved through a new layout with abundant cabinets and a generously sized island that comfortably accommodates all five family members.
This stunning custom-designed hutch acts as both a serving buffet and bar and contains a beverage fridge below. The three small doors at the top hide charging stations for the family’s electronic devices. The interior windows look out to a mudroom and lets in more natural light.
Classic inset doors and drawers, satin nickel hardware and reproduction lighting are nods to the past, while stainless steel appliances, honed-granite countertops and a center island add modern touches.
Enclosing the back stoop of the house allowed for a new mudroom space. Individual cubbies for each family member help contain clutter and a heated tile floor keeps the room cozy.
The original kitchen was dimly lit with dated, dark cabinets and a cramped, inefficient layout.
Enclosing the back stoop allowed for a generous mudroom area directly inside the back door.
